Porto Rico, &c, owner* of Patents which have been issued or hereafter issue, and owners of Trade Marks registered in the United States Patent Office, shall receive the same pirotec< tion as is afforded them in the United States; and an infringement of the Patent or Trade Mark shall subject the person or party guilty of such infringement to the liabilities crcat«d by the law 3of the United States. - Provided— That a duly certified copy of the Patent or registration of the Trade Mark shall be filed in the office of the Governor-General of the island wherein such protection is desired. Patents and Trade Marks secured in Cuba, Porto Rico and the Phillipines under Spanish law shall, however, be -# respected as if such law were in* full ' force. -y) *■;■ As there are many inventors in ' Australia who hold or intend to secure American rights these additional privileges are worth noting. It will be advisable, however, to act at once through some United States PatentT Attorney, as the cost is quite nominal, so as to prevent others establishing conflicting claims.
