The Transvaal.
A British camp is being formed □ear Laing's Nek, the pass where General Colley was repulsed by the Boer 3on the 28' h January, 1881. The Transvaal Government has ordered the mobilisation of the artillery reserved. President Steyn has discouraged residents of the Orange Free State from selling horses and cattle to the British. The British War Office has inquired fr )m the Victorian Govern ment whether in the event of war with the Transvaal the colony would be able to supply forage. The Premier has replied that large supp ies are available. The Volsraads have added to the Grondwet or fundamental law of the Transvaal, an article compelling non-burghers and coloured persons to co operate in the defence of the Hepubli.O It is reported that the Orange Free State instructing tha reserve artillerymen in the use of thp newest guns, and have also completed trrnsporfc and mobilisation sshemes. The Government has an anmurplated loop-holed train in reaJintsa in case of emergency. ' The " Times " Pretoria correspondent states that President Kruger has consulted the President of the Orange Free State in regard to the situation, and that as a result a peaceful solution is anticipated.
