Fire.

Last evening a disastrous fire occurred at Moutoa, when the house and furniture belonging to Mr W. Walden were totally destroyed. It appears that everything had been left safe with the exception of a few cinders in the ash-pan under the range, and the only theory is that the cat, which was heard moving, must have settled in the ashes and from thence rushed to the curtains. The house had just been newly built, and the contents had been the savings of years. There was no insurance on the property whatever, and this makes his loss a very serious one.
