Proposed New County.

On Wednesday evening a public meeting at Otaki decided to promote the formation of a new County. # „The proposal, which was carried, is as follows : — (a) That it is the opinion of the ratepayers at this meeting that Parliament be petitioned to form the Otaki and Te Horo Road Districts into a new county* and that a petition be circulated throughout the Otaki Riding with the object of obtaining the requisite number of signatures to present to Parliament praying for a new county within the boundaries of the Otaki and Te Horo Riding; (b) Should three-fifths of the ratepayers of the Whereroa Riding of the Hutt County wish to join in with the proposed new county, that it is the opinion of this meeting that they should be allowed to join in.
