Miss Kirk's Address.

The meeting at the Methodist Hall last night was well attended, there being a large number of Temperance workers and sympathisers present. Miss Kirk was in splendid form and gave a capital address, dealing with ,some of the main facts on the liqflbr question, especially showing the fallacy of the argument that Drink is caused by poverty. This was shown clearly got to be the case, by incontrovertible facts and figures, and the opposite fact, that Drink causes poverty, jvas firmly established. Miss Kirk went on to show how the next local option poll might be made to result in a victory for the side of "No License," and urged the local workers to make a house to house canvas, and deal individually with objectors. Miss Kirk is an easy, fluent speaker, and carries her audience with her. To-night she speaks on Drink and the revenue, and" as many people think the country could not be run without the money derived from the liquor, they should attend and hear the matter explained. Mrs Woollass takes the chair, and will also contribute a solo, the meeting to-night being entirely in the hands of the ladies.
