The Forester's Ball.
The ball given by tho local Lodge of Foresters on Tuesday night at the Public Hall passed off most pleasantly, and was a great success both socially and financially. The committee had spared no effort to make everything go well and it is satisfactory to find their efforts bo well repaid. A very large number of guests were present, though the wet day interfered with many who had a distance to travel. However, there were over 150 in tha hall and a? many as 48 couple were dancing at one time. The muaio wis excellent, being supplied by Mrs Litcbftald (piano) and Mes3ra Pickering (cornet) Tom? (violin). Dancing commeoced a little after eight o'clock and was not *nded till past four in the morning. There were 28 dances on tha pro gramme. Daring the evening there was a liberal supp'y of refreshments and non alcholic liquors. The catering was placed in the hinds of Mr Walls. The hall wav prettily decorated with evergreens and Chinese lanterns.
