The Newly-discovered Caves.

The oaves discovered on Te Akau run, near Port Waikato are thus described by the finder, Mr Johnston : — From an opening 20ft wide by about 15ft in height, I saw amidst the darkness white shining columns which glistened and shone as I moved, whilst I could bear the drip of watsr in the distance. There ai-e two caves, a division in the rock being apparent a few yards from the entrance. The one I partially explored seemed to extend for a considerable distance. I only explored 80yds or 40yd3, when my matches gave out, and, so far as I could judge the space in front of me seemed interminable. An exploration party has been formed, to start next week.
