Foxton Borough Council.
A special meeting of the Foxton Borough Council was held at the Library Buildings last night at 7.30 to corsider the proposed receipts and expenditure for the year. . Present — Cr Alf Fraser (Mayor), Hennessy, Walsh, Easton, Rhodes, Westwood and Purcell.
The Council went into Committee and discussed the whole question of expenditure,, and various proposals were moved and lost. Eventually, it was proposed by Cr Hennessy, seconded by Cr Easton, That the proposed expenditure for the coming year be as follows :— Formation and metalling Purcell-street, £40; No. 6 Line, £40; Robinson-street, £10 for repairs; Johnston-street, £20 for repairs. Palmerston metal to. be used, and this to be confirmed at the next meeting of the Council. Carried.
Cr West wood proposed, and Cr Walsh seconded, That the Mayor call a public meeting to discuss the advisability of raising a loan under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1886, for the purpose of metalling roads. Carried. Notices of motion for the next meeting were given by Cr Easton, seconded by Cr Hennessy, That the resolution (No. 17), of the 10th of April be rescinded, and that nine chains of Ro-binson-street, commencing at Park street, be topped with Palmerston metal.
Proposed by the Mayor, That in future the Public Works Committee shall consist of the whole Council, and shall hold a weekly meeting on soi»e evening to be appointed at 7.30.
