Obituary.

JOHN ROBERT BULLEN TRIPE. There are few residents who will learn without emotion ot the death of Mr J. R. B. Tripe, son of Dr Tripe, which occurred at his residence at half-past two o'clock on Tuesday morning from an attack of diphtheria. It is only within the last few days he took to his bed, and despite the unremitting attention of the doctors, he passed away as stated. Mr Tripe was of a genial disposition, kindhearted and open-handed and had a good word for everyone, and therefore it is only natural that his unexpected death should come with a shock to his friends amongst whom he was so highly esteemed. He was born in Canterbury on the 24th March, 1861, and passed his dental examination at * Dunedin, anJ commenced the practice of his profession in Palmerston some 12 years ago. Eight years ago he married Miss Bell, daughter ot the late Mr James Bell, of Kairanga, and leaves behind to mourn their loss besides his wife, a daughter, six and a half years of age, and a baby boy five months old. Mr Tripe suffered greatly 'frorr insomnia, and in order to get relief he for a trip Home. It is sad tc learn that Mr Tripe had actually taker his passage for England, and was t< leave for there on the 21st instant Mr Tripe was a member of th< Masonic Lodge, E.C., for some years —Standard.
