Methodist Concert.

« The concert and social held las night passed off most successfully. M' T. Westwood, circuit steward, was in the chair. The programme wa opened with a pianoforte duet— " Wildfire" — by Miss Symons and Mr: W. Cook, after which the Rev. W Woollass sang " Rocked in the cradl of the deep." In the absence of Mis:Simps in, Miss Anderson gave splendid rendering of " The « hildren'. B.^wer," and then Mr E. Osborn' delighted the audience with one of hi humorous readings. .Miss ollins sanp " Adieu Marie " with taste and feelinp and had to respond with an encon "The Gay Tomtit." Mr W. Cook then gave a fine interpretation of th- " Queen of the Earth," and had t< respond to an encore with " In Happ-> vloments." Miss E. Spring sanj " Bring back my Fisher Boy," and had to give a second verse for' ,v encore. Mr T. Westwood sang " Tin Friar of Orders Grey," and his voice was well heard in the fine runs of the song, and as an encore he recited " That Baby ot Mine," which brough' down the house. mented the officials and members of the church on the improved position it had taken during the year, the income had increased by over and the church was well filled every Sunday night. The Misses Collins commenced the second part of the programme with a duet on the piano, and then Mrs W. Cook sang the song " Echo " very nicely, and received an encore. Mrs Woollass, who was suffering from a cold, then sang " The Lost Chord " in a finished manner, 4 and was vociferously encored, and responded with " For ever and for ever." A trio was \, f* : then given in good style by Mt^jjp. Anderson, Miss E. Spring and Mr T. Westwood, " Ye Shepherds, tell me." Mr Woollass then took the opportunity of moving a most hearty vote of thanks to all who had helped to make the concert so successful, especially mentioning the friends of the English Church who had so kindly aasistjed. Mr Osborne seconded it, and .it *as carried unanimously. Miss, A4dei||on then gave the last piece, " Listening;,*^ j with great feeling and had to respond- 1 to an encore. Mrs W. Cook vory kindly played the accompaniments.
