Young New Zealand Party.

In the course of a strongly worded article on the necessity for a Young New Zealand Party coming to the rescue of the colony, the Fahiatua Herald pays :— " We are not afraid to affirm that the Party now in power has been guilty of some of the most despicable acts that c ?er disgraced any Government, and the country has to thank the members of the Left Wing for the exposure of some detestable scandals. Tb> present Government is the most extravagant in its personal expendi ture, and the most oppressive in its taxation of the poorer people, that cursed this colony. It ia the typification of patronage* and nepotism ; and if the pigeon-holes of the different Departments could be seized without warning and their contents made public, there wuld be an exposure of nefarious methods of government that would shook the whole community. The ramifications of patronage extend into every department and into every branch of the Service, the Government finds its main strength in its hold on the fears and hops of thousands of its officials. In a well-ordered administration this should not be possible, and it would not be possible now were our legislators courageous enough to express and enforce their real opinions. The L?ft Wingers have set an excellent example in this resprct, and we hope after the next election to see their ranks vary con siderably strengthened. It is time ' we had in this colony a Young New Zealand Party, fired with the patriotic desire to rescue the affair* of thar country from the hands of pocket-lining hilling*.
