Death of the French President.
♦ ■ ■ ■■■ A VICTIM TO APOPLEXY. Obituary— President Faure. He died suddenly of apoplexy. M. Faare was taken ill in bis study at 6 in the evening, and called for assistance. He was helped to a aifa, which was transformed into a Ind, where be died exactly at 10 o'clock. It was known that his heart was affected for months. President Faure's death caused a sensation on the Boulevards. The audiences at the theatres were greatly moved. The face of the dead President as he lies in his death chamber looks serene. His widow is inconsolable. It is feared that Genera Zarlinder will seize the opportunity of the election of a successor to make a move. President Faure was aware throughout that his case was hopeless. After an affectionate farewell of his family and attendant he exclaimed " eeat fini" Paris is quiet and the troops are confined to their barracks. rhroughoat Europe very sympa* thetic references have been mide to his death. M. Freycinet bas again warned army officers to abstain from joining political societies.
The Paris correspondent of the London Times says Faure's death could not have happened at a more serious time. The Parnellite members of the House of Commons condoled with France as Ireland's ancient ally.
