INCREASING THE AMERICAN SQUADRON. The American gunboats Yorktown (1770 tons), Benningfcon (171 C tons) and Princeton (1000 tons] have been ordered to join the Philip pine squadron. Aquinaldo has placarded Manila with a manifesto claiming absolnti independence for the Filipinos.
