W On Thursday afjpnoon,, at a littlei after 5 o'<^opfcr Mt\ Thomas Weflfc. wood's i^use, with all its con ten to,, exceptitj^' a pisoo and a fow othiwr | articles w\is totally destroyed by fire,. The origin W ;Jb> fire is not known,, , as no one was in the bouse at $«* time. Mrs Bbodes first noticedlp smoke issuing from the roof, wh<ii thereupon informed several who were passing, and the firebell ringing, brought a large number to the scene of the fire. The fire had a complete hold, and although efforts were4jrat|e ; by those who were first there t&tMfe the building, it was of no ami, The piano was saved by ontting the doorway r.pen, and the fire was prevtutf-d from spreading to the out* hou*t--fi by the exertions of several prfßrii 1 . 4|§ The insurances were :—^loo-elpJi on house and furniture, and £50 on piand. We understand Mr Westwood's lo3r will fee considerably above tbt amount insured, and for him much sympathy is felt.
