The Queensland Murders.

It is stated that the Murphy sisters received an anonymous letter to attend the race ball. The detectives searched the house and examined the correspondence, but the result has not been disclosed. McNeill discovered the fragments of a letter just outside,-- and the Gatton police pieced it together. It read as follows : — " Dear Brother, — Just a few lines hoping you are quite well. I have been over the ground of the murdered family, and can say the police and black trackers have not jet been in Campbell's paddock." A letter, dated the Ist of January, signed by Howard, the man who stated that he had overheard the plot to meet the Murphys arranged, now says he had been drinking, and has no recollection of making such a statement.
