In a sensational trial recently concluded at Liverpool, Lieutenant B. G. Warke, of the Royal Artillery, was sentenced to death in connection with tbe death of Miss Jane Yatea, a young lady of independent means, and a member of a highly respectable family, who succumbed to the effects of an illegal operation, in which Warke's death sentence was commuted to imprisonment for life. . Now complaints are made that Mr Justice Phillimore, b.fore whom Warke was tried, displayed bia* against the prisoner, and a petition has been presented to the Quepn bearing 20,000 signature^ a-sking th.} prisoner's release. His di.missal from the army has bn. n gaz. ttad. Mutton of all kinds is unchanged.
