The Right Hon Cecil Rhodes has arranged to send an officer from Omdurman to meet a party engaged on the trans-African telegraph line in the vicinity of Lake Victoria Nyanza. The Duke of York will shortly be created a Rear Admiral, com manding the battleship Prince George, in readiness for the forth coming visit of the American fleets. [The Prince George was completed in 1886. 16 guns, 14,900 horse power and is a first class battleship.]
