The Band Excursion.

A MOONLIGHT TRIP TO PAIAKA. The first excursion inaugurated by the Town Bind took plaoa lasfc night, and proved to be most enjoyable. Some 100 excursionists went up in tbe "Flower of Kent" and rhe large puut was also used whicjbi provided ample seating accomm^ dation. The band 'played a few s6« loc iona on tbe wharf before starting and during the trip the following programme was very creditably rendered :— March, "The Fawn;^ achottische, "Dolores;" march* " The Night ;" waltz, "Silver Sea ;M quadrille, " Desideratum ;*' march, •• En Route ;". . waltz, " Good Oli Mother;" galop, "Cherry Ripe ;?f lancers, "Masquerade;" march ,i " When the Dew is on the Roses;! schottische, " Darby and Joan ;" march, " Granville ;" quadrille^; " Village Carnival ;" march, '• Th»l Scout ;" schottische, " Snowdrop ;]f march, "Pull for the Shore." f, few lively songs and choruses wer-if rendered in the interval?, and a M||]|| enthusiasts had some dances on (hPlii floor of the punt on the return jour p ney. On approaching Paiaka tbe river bank was seen to be brilliantly^ lighted up, a number of bon-fires having been lighted as soon as the mast-head light was visible, and the dancing flames reflected oh the still water made a very pretty effect. Mrft Oswald Gardner accorded the visitors a cordial welcome. Tbe excursionr ists landed and stayed about half an hour. The Foxton wharf wa^t reached about 1 o'clock this morning^ everybody thoroughly pleased andl ooking forward to another moonlight trip _____ !
