Railway Disasters.

This morning's " N.Z. Times" reports " three trains blocked or derailed and one in the river " was the position of affairs reported by outlying stationmasters to the central office of the Government Railway Traffic Department late last night— the result of landslips between the Upper Hutt and the Summit. No assistance could be rendered them owing to the subsidence of a culvert, and the passengers were out all night. It is possible that the passengers will not be released until a. fate hour to-day. A number of hampers ware prepared at Kaitoke and several railway men engaged to take them, but whether they succeeded is not yet known. WRECKAGE OF A TRAIN. The late goods train from Masterton to Cross Creek appears to have gone through a bridge over a small river between Featherston and the base of the hills. It is known that the engHM and trucks now form a mass of wrec£ age. The authorities have heard that the engineers and guard are safe. TRAFFIC SUSPENDED. All traffic is suspended between Featherston and the Upper Hutt. FLOOD AT THE HUTT. ft The thunderstorm was very heavy yesterday afternoon, and the rain besides damaging the railway has raised a flood in the river. At one o'clock this morning there was three feet of water between the Lower Hutt station and Phillips' hotel, which means that many houses would be flooded. As the flood was rising, and it would not be high tide till eight o'clock this morning, considerable^ apprehension was felt.
