The Tuatara Lizard.
A good deal has been written about the Tuatara lizards, but they are seldom, seen. By the courtesy of Mr Alexander Langley we have on view at our office one of these creatures, not alive unfortunately, though for a long time Mr Langley had it alive, but stuffed, yet it represents the animal well enough to understand what they are like. The specimen measures 18 laches from the nose to the tip of its tail and has a girth of 6 inches.
Beyond this we san only add what is stated about lizards, that the name is applied to almost any reptile except a frog, toad, snake, or turtle, but the name is generally used as the name of the small lacertillians. It is described as a scaly four-legged reptile, without a shell, and moveable eye lids.
