It is rumoured tbat the foreign Ambassadors at Pekin are aware that the Emperor showed signs of arsenical poisoning before the issue of the edict expressing regret at the Emperor's increasing ill health. The wife of the Italian Minister at Pekin has been attacked by the Chinese. Pekin is now qniet. The Chinese, who insulted the Europeans, have been punished, and the Tsnng LiYamen have apologised for their indignities offered to officials of the British Embassy. A force of German marines will proceed to Pekin. The mission of the Marquis Ito, of Japan, to the Emperor having proved a failure, he has returned to Tokio.
