The Flaxmill Buyer.
At the oriminal sittings of the Supreme Court yesterday George Ooleman, known here as Mr Garry a buyer of hemp mills, was charged with forgery and pleaded guilty. Mr Wilford appeared for accused and applied for hia release under the First Offenders Probation Act. His Honor the Ghief Justice said ha had heart a speech from Jfr Wilford. He did not know whether counsel had considered it would be of any use to call evidence in regard to the matters he had mentioned. He did not take the slightest notice of what Mr Wilford had said. The case in His Honor's opinion, was not one for probation ; the only question was wether there ought not to be a very long term of imprisonment. The prisoner was sentenced to two years' imprisonment with hard la- . bour.
