Manawatu Rowing Club.

A meeting of the Rowing Club Committee was held on Saturday last at g p.m. at Whyte's Hotel. Present — Messrs W. Cook (chair), J. F. Overend, B. G. Gower, j. H. Howan, C. T. Austin and W. McDermott (secretary.) The meeting was called to open the tenders received for the erection of the new shed tor the Club, and the secretary reported having received | tenders from the following : — A. Jonson, on old site new site £52 ; A. Speirs, £55 ; A. E. Smith, £29 8s ; H. Anreason, £28 10s on old or new site. The meeting was of opinion that the two highest could not be entertained. Mr Anreason said for a further cost of £12 he would substitute yellow for white pine, and roof the shed with iron. On the proposition of Mr Austin, seconded by Mr Cook, the tender at £28 10s with £12 extra was accepted on those conditions. Proposed by Mr Conk, seconded by Mr Gower, That Mr T. J. Mitchell be appointed as supervisor of building the new boat-shed at a fee of £2 2s. Carried. Proposed by Mr Austin, seconded by Mr Cook, That Messrs Gower, Overend and McDermott act in conjunction with Mr Mitchell in supervising the erection of the new shed. Proposed by Mr Overend, and seconded by Mr Howan, That the following new members be elected: — Messrs P. Hennessv, F. Shadbolt, T. E. Wanklyn, J. Gillespie and T. J. Mitchell. Carried.
