Sheep Returns.

We are indebted to Mr Hull, the local Sheep Inspector, for the follow, ing figures relative to the number of sheep, in the various counties, and their proportionate increased or 4ecrease ; — Bangitikei County, 521,---42, increase, 20,196; Kiwitfa County, 254,875, decrease, 1896; Pohangina County, 186,342, increase 28,797 ; Oroua County, 876,506, increase, 1,416 ; Manawatu County, 215,843, decrease, 191. The large decrease in the Kiwiteu County is attributed to the serious bush fires yhich prevailed during the summer, arid that in the Manawatu may be accounted for by the dry season. In any case the total nnmbtr of sheep would have been much larger had the season been more favourable. — Stanford*
