HEMP £24 A TON. In the wool market goods classes hava sold Well, but in medium and inferior aorta many lota wore withdrawn. The price of merinos are unchanged, whilst erossbreda have had a little better competition. Bepresentatives of Continental firms bought freely in all kinds excepting oronbredg. So far daring the present series 128,000 bales have been catalogued and 114,700 sold. The sales are now fixed to close on Thursday. Cheese is hardening, best New Zealand selling at 48s. The hemp market is exoited. A •mall lot of good Wellington sold at £22, and holders are now asking £24. The demand for New Zealand hemp, however, is small. The market for Australian hides is weak, and price? are unchanged. Leather is also unchanged. Basils are selling at id lower. Mutton. — New Zealand crosabreds wethers and maiden ewes—Canterbury, 8 ll*6d ; Dunedin and Southland, B£d ; North Island, 2 15-16 d.
