It is rumoured that a great naval f battle between the Spanish and American .quad rons has been fought '
in the Atlantic, and to have resulted satisfactorily to the Spanish.
THE SAFETY OF NEW YORK.
The pilot boats bailing from New York now anohor nightly off Sandy Hook.
The reason for thia precaution ia that ifc if feared thafc if any were captured they wonld be compelled to navigate fche Spanish fleet into New York harbour.
