A Maori Trouble.
Tho trouble at Rawene is more serious than Mr Clendon anticipated and the government have despatched 90 artillery men with three guns (two Nordenfeldts and one Maxim) by the Uinemoa on Sunday evening to the scene of action, and some police and Permanent Militia from Auckland,
Rawenc is de3erteo*, ths women and children having taken refuge at Kohukohu.
The natives are supposed to number 250 and are reported to be well armed. Their chief objection seems to be the dng tax, for the non-pay-ment of which some were imprisoned last yenr.
