The Spanish torpedo boat Audaz, after a long detention for repairs, has left Queenstown, Ireland.
Lieutenant Freemont landed with a party of marines at Matanzas under cover of darkness and obtained information as to the insurgent leader's attitude.
The Daily News says that Presi dent McKinley believes that the blockade will reduce Cuba, through hunger, and lead to a surrender of the Spanish forces there without bombardment being resorted to.
