Rongotea.

_ 4 (FROM O¥R OWN CORRESPONDENT.) 21st March. We have had a splendid 1 week's rain and it has put our farmers in good spirits and done an immense amount of good. Mr 0. Anderson is going in for a milking machine if Mr S. Knight's proves a success. We have ono gentleman in our midst who is talking of going to Klondyke to try his fortune,. Mr Woods, the manager of the butter factory is leaving that position on account of his health, and is leaving the district to follow up farming for himself. Mr Tobeck, the butter-maker has been placed in charge as manager. We wish Mr Woods every success in hie new occupation. Mr A. Koberstein had a very valuable mare killed by the tram on race night, the 17th. The mare got out of a paddock at Sandon and was making her way home when she met the tram coming from Carnarvon. She started back to Sandon along the line and watching the tram evidently did not notice the bridge. She fell down between the sleepers and was mangled by the engine. The night was dark so that the engine-driver did not see her. The Wesleyan tea last Thursday was a success, and no doubt would have been more so had it been a fine nigbt. Something over £5 was taken. j Our Good Templar Lodge which hag been closed so long has made another start and promises to be a strong lodge. Mr and Mis Staff leave Rongotea for Foxton on Wednesday. They 1 carry with them the good wishes of the people here. Some of our young ' sports r struck some good dividends at the Sandon races last Thursday. The cricket club is going to have a big fancy dress cricket match at Easter which will no doubt cause a lot of amusement.
