ROWDYISM.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE MANAWATO HERALD. Sir, — I think it is quite time that 6ome steps should be taken to prevent the growth of " larrikinism," or in plain English "rowdyism," that is fast gaining headway in the town, and carried on by certain gangs of young " would-be-men " who think it manly to insult any woman they may come across. I, in company with a lady, have been twice insulted. The first time I gave one of the offenders what he well deserved, happening to have a hunting whip in my possession at the time. Only last Sunday night on coming out of church whilst assisting the lady to put on her cape, a piece of dirty sacking was thrown and hit her between the shoulders. I happen to pretty well know the i^^fenders, and have been to the police
