• • On Thursday evening at the Public Hall Messrs Jones and Budd will exhibit the Cinematographs and the Concert Phonograph. The pictures shown will measure 10ft bj 12ft and the Phonograph oan be heard distinctly all over the Hall. The prices for admission have been fixed at the low rate of 2s and Is. The Auokland Star says : —The managers of the Cinematograph© and Concert Phonograph Co., shown in the Opera House, have every reason to feel satisfied with the receipts of the first entertainment of the season here, the building was packed to the doors. If may safely be said that the management more than fulfilled what they had promised, the general opinion at the conclusion being that the exhibition was without doubt the finest of its kind ever shown in Auckland. The whole of the views formed a most interesting programme and ticked from the audience the warmest enthusiasm. A compliment which, it must be said, was richly deserved. The pictures are the largest ever shown in Auckland and there was a total absence of that glitter and vibratory motion so objectionable, the views were very distinct. The large and load phonograph, whioh has over 200 reoords, reproduces them with wonderful clearness, while the songs and instrumental selections are remarkably good, some of which were very amusing and caused roars of laughter. Box office for reserve seats is now open at Mr A. Fraser's. stationer, were seats can be reserved without extra charge. The management cordially invites the public who wish, to inspect the machine between the hours of 4 and 5 p.m. The doors open at 7.80, commence at 8.
