Foxton Borough Council.
SPECIAL MEETING. Last night the above Council held a special meeting to open and accept tenders, at the Library buildings. > Present— The Mayor (J. E. Sfcansell), Cra Westwood, Hennessy, Coley, Fraser and Rhodes. Tenders for carting 1000 yards of metal were received from Andt rson & Johnson, Reeve & Aldridge, Stuart & Andrew, and B. Spelman. Tenders for metal from Nye's pit were received from Reeve & Aldridge, W. Anderson and Symons Bros. The only tender for painting was from P. E. Jenks, and there was only one tender for Stewart-street drain. For Patrick-street drain D. Wiln liamson, W. Johnson and F. Martin tendered. There was no tender for the ferry. The following resolutions were passed: — Proposed by Cr Weatwood, seconded by Or Coley, That the tenders of B. Spelman ior No. 1 Contract at 8(3, Is and Is 3d for & mile, 1 mile and l&milea respectively be accepted. Proposed by Cr Fraser, seconded by Cr Rhodes, That the tender of William Anderson for carting metal from Nye's pit to where directed at Is 9d per yard be aocepted. Proposed by Or Westwood, seconded by Cr Hsnnessy, That the tender of F. E. Jenks for No. 8 Contract at £10 8s 6d be accepted. Proposed by Or Rhodes, seconded by Cr Fraser, That the tender of D. Williamson be accepted for cleaning out drains for 4 and 5 Contraots at Is 5d and 2a 8d per chain respectively. Proposed by Cr Fraser, seconded by Cr Rhodes, That His Worship the Mayor, Crs Henne?sy, Westwood, and Bhodes be appointed a com-> mittee to make arrangements for working the Wirokino Ferry on expiration of Mr Hillary's lease. Proposed by Cr Hennessy, seconded by Cr Coley, That the Mayor, Crs Westwood, Rhodes and the mover be a committee to take over the ferry on the expiration of Mr Hillary '& lease. • —^— ■— — — — — i
