Proposed New Steamer.

♦ Yesterday two gentlemen visited Foxton with an idea o£ bringing up a steamer to ply on the river. They have a well-found boat at their command, the s.s. Flower of Kent, of 10 h.p., but with a pressure of 1751D5., which is practically close on 35 h.p. She is 48 feet long, with 8 feet beam, and has a draught of 3 feet 3 inches. She has been employed in Wellington Harbour in towing and carrying passengers, and is there licensed to parry 48 persons, . but on the river her license would be considerably enlarged. The Mayor introduced the visitors to the business men and millers, and it is very probable that we shall see the new steamer with us next week, if the owners are satisfied with the prospects of trade.
