Valedictory Social to the Rev. W. Woollass.

Th« Mission Hall was packed to it* utmost capacity last night whan a farewell social was given to the Rev, W Woollass, who is leaving the district to take charge of a church at Foxton, Manawatu.

Mr J Holloway presided, and in a fuv choice words expressed their re* i>M at parting with Mr Woollas, and boppd he would be very happy in his n-w pphore of labour.

Speeches were also given by Capfain Dixon (S A), Mr Stanway, and Mr Benge. The latter gentleman his ivgrefc in feeling terms at Mr Woolass' departure-, and added that although belonging to anothe^ cburab, he appreciated true workers in every church, and had seen that that gentleman to whom they had to say goodbye, would be greatly missed in Waihi. What was needed by the. Ministry • f tc day was men of broad sympathies and earnest activities. He hoped that Mr Barnett, who is to take up Mr Woollass' work here, 4 would be as greatly liked as Mr Woollass was.

Songs were given by Miss Lily New, Mrs Benge, Mrs Seymour, Miss Trewh^eler, Mr B*nge, Mr Sh?rßon, and Mr Seymour ; and re.citations by Miss L. Lumb and Miss Clara Dunstan.

Mr Seymour then, on behalf of the Waihi Excelsior lodge of Good Templars, presented a beautiful Morocco Album to Mr Woollass and wished the recipient every good wish and blessing, and hoped that he would be always found working under the banner of Good Templary. Mr Holloway also on behalt of the Church presented Mr Woollass with a purse of sovereigns and was pleased that his work had been recognised^ in such a substantial manner. The" friends desired Mr Woollass to purchase some Souvenir by which they might be remembered. Mr Woollass suitably replied, and heartily thanked his many friends who had so kindly and generously supported him and sent him off laden with presents. He could not. find
