Foxton Borough Council.

A special meeting of the above Council was held last night at 7.80 o'clock.

Present — The Mayor and Crs Hennessy, Rhodes, Fraser, Walsh and Wesfcwood.

The meeting was called to adopt the Bating Act and appoint a valuer, also to consider the Harbour-street contract.

Ib was proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Councillor Hennessy, That this Council adopt " The Rat ing Act, 1894," annual value for triennial valuation of the Borough from March 81st, 1898, to April 80th, 1901, and that Thomas Fran cis Gibson be appointed valuer.— Carried.

The Harbour-street contract was considered, and arrangements made with the contractor?, Messrs Stewart and Andrew.

Thi3 was all the business and the meeting adjourned.
