Justices' Court.

Wednesday, Feb. i 6, 1898. (Before Alf. Fraser, Eeq., J.P.) Thomas Eddlestone, alias Mitchell, was charged with making use of indecent and obscene language in a public place. S. H. Nicholls, proprietor of the Post Office Hotel, Miss Nicholls, B.

Spchnan, Nicholls junior, gave evidence supporting the charge, a.id Constable Salmon also gave evidence. Sentenced to one month's hard labor in Wanganri Gaol. He was further charged with being drunk and disorderly, and was fined 20s, or 7 days hard labor in Wanganui Gaol. He was also charged with resisting the constable in the execution of his duly, and damaging the constable's uniform to ihe extent of sc. Fined 10s, and ordered to pay cost of damage to uniform, or seven days wiih hard labor in Wanganui Gaol," sentences to be cumulative. Hans Christian was charged with making use of indecent and obscene language^ in a public place ; also with being drunk and disorderly, and was further charged wiih resisthig the constable in the execution of his duty and damaging the constable's shako, value 12s 6d. E. Foreman, B. Spelman, T. Wanklyn, Nicholls and the constable gave evidence. On the first charge Christian was sentenced to one month with, hard labor in Wanganui Gaol, for being drunk and disorderly 20s or 7 days, resisting the police 10s, and to pay damage to shako 12s 6d or seven days, sentences to be cumulative.
