Deserves the Victoria Cross.
The following Simla telegram, dated November 26th, appeared in London papers : T Letters from the frontier gave further particulars of the exceptionally gallant conduct of Private Vickery during the disastrous rearguard action at Waran. Vickery, who belong 3to the Dorsetshire Regiment, took full share in the general fighting. .In the retirement be got separated from his comrades, and was fiercely attacked by three tribesmen. One of them h3 shot dead, and he ran bia bayonet through another, but then found himself in imminent peril, as he was unabl* to extricate the weapon from the body of the second man. There upon he picked up a boulder and with it killed the third tribesman. Vickery was recommended for the Victoria Crog3 for hia conspicuous" gallantry at Dargai, and there is no doubt that this second display will seouro for him the coveted decoration.
