Russia and China.
« The United States newspapers are publishing very laudatory criticisms on the resolution displayed by Great Britain. It is believed that the Powers will be unable to resist the- principle of opening China to trade. The Times state that Germany, after much hesitation, has decided to open Kiaochau to the world. COAL SUPPLY STOPPED. The presence of so many war and oiher ships in Chinese waters and the shutting down of Japanese mine? against all foreign vessels have caused a heavy demand and an in crease in the price for local Japanese coal. Several vessels lying at Newcastle have in consequence reoeived ordera to load for the East. A Japanese cruiser has been launched afc San Francisco. A second cruiser for the Japanese Go I vernment will ba launched within a | few days.
