Arrest of Patrick Barron.
♦■■ ■ ■ '• • ESCAPE OF THE PRISONER. The man Patrick Barron, with otber aliases, was apprehended the other day in WeUington on the charges of horsestealing, and the theft of boots and a saddle. The case wa9 to have been heard by the looal justices to-irfojrrow,, and by the train last evening Constable" Gillespie brought the prisoner up, and deposited him in the local look-up in charge of Constable Salmon. THE ESCAPE. About seven o'clock Constable Salmon entered the cell in which Barron was confined to see if he desired some tea, and on leaving the door was closed and bolted, and the little trap opening in the door pushed to. Constable Salmon did not lock the door as well, as he intended being back at once. He returned within a few minutes with the tea arid was astonished to find the cell empty and the prisoner gone. It would appear that the prisoner, an old offender, had put his hand through the small opening and succeeded in forcing back the bolt. Constable Salmon and Constable O'Connor have been out all night searching the country but without success. As the man is wanted on many* charges we append his full description v so that lovers of law and order may : . assist in his recapiure. , '<; '- Patrick Barron, alias Patrick Beres-! ford, alias Frank O'Neil, is thus described : — About 30 years of age, five " feet six inches high, slight slim build; dark hair, sandy moustache, pale complexion, stubble beard and whiskers, light grey eyes, inclined to baldness above temples, slight scratch on left cheek, nose deformed, rolling gait, about 10 stone weight. Dressed in dark tweed suit, flannel singlet, silk * 1 handkerchiet round throat.
