Foxton Racing Club.
■ ♦ SALE OF PRIVILEGES. On Thursday afternoon at the Temperance Hall (not the Public Hall as first advertised), the privileges in connection with the above Club's summer meeting will be sold by Messrs Liffiton and Nixon, Mr Nixoa being the auctioneer. The meetings of this Club have always been popular and very well attended, so that the privileges should realise good prices. The Club have made it a point to improve the meetings each year, and Mr J. R. Whyte is a secretary who still carries this programme forward. At the coming meeting the new grand stand will be available and this should be much' 1 appreciated, not only by those who want to watch the racss but also by those who desire to refresh the inner
man, as the bar is comfortable and commodious, whilst the dining-room is much larger than the old one, and is floored and lined, The course is in. very good condition, the dry weather not having had much i effect on it, and we know that should * we get a. shower or two the whole i course would be bright and green. Of course there wili be a first-class • band, the committee thoroughly _un« lb derstanding the attraction this is to the **! public. The starting will be by machine which, as it is not infreqrent use, will be a novelty to many. The totalisator will be Worked by expert* edced men, Messrs Neylon and Spriggins, who will put more money on In less time than has been done heretofore, and with less inconvenience to investors. if It must be remembered that at this 4. meeting there has been a very good If innovation in the programme, two of T the races in each day being open o8e», that is, instead of the meeting befog ; simply a hack meeting, two races each day will be open to racehorses, and the result is that such horses as The.Ar* tist, Irish Twist, Sedgebrook, Flying Shot, &c, have been nominated and will in all probability be seen running' Such good horses being entered means '. j a large following Sf frlenc&and backers and thus a greater draw for the meeting and better business for the holders of privileges. . " It is also pretty . sure that apeoial trains will be run from Wanganui .md Woodville. Speculators in making their bids would do well to keep these points in mind, as otherwise they may let a good chance go, -r-
