WELLINGTON v. MANAWATU.
Yesterday the Manawatu Polo team came down in their might and met the Wellington men, and the result was but a repetition of ihe veni, vidi, vici. The Wellington men made a good fi^htin the first Rpull and saved any score being recorded, but in the ißecond spell the Manawata men scored a goal for them. la the third spell the Manawatu team put up another 8 goalg, got by Fitarim*
mons, Elkington and Baker. The game then stood at six to love. In the fourth spell; Snow scored another goal for Manawatu, but Madoxa got in one for the Wellington team. In the fifth spell the Wellington's did well in defending and the result was only one more gnal for the Mana* watu's, the score being, 8 to 1.. The la't ppell only three minutes duration and resulted in no Bcore. In many instances the Wellington ponies showed a fleeter hoof to tho*e ridden by the Manawatu, but the visitors wanted better combination and their ponies more practice; To day the Manawatu's play the Oroua's and the teams will be as under : — Maxawath. Gie^on 1, Baker 2, Soow 3, and Ellington 4. Oroua. — A and J Strang, O. Robinson and B. Gower.
