Naylor's Novelty Co.
To-night the above company appear at the Public Hall, and there is every likelihood of their being met with a crowded house. What we reprint below, taken from the Advocate of last Wednesday has nothing to do with the Show but has a great deal to do with the Showman, and proves the stuff he is made of : — A kindly deed and one that deserves cherishing has occurred in connection with the sudden death of the late Mr " Andy " Johnston, bootmaker of Hunterville. Mr John ston has had a varied life both on the stage and off. Amongst ' other things he was at one time an em ployee, later a partner, and again an employee of Mr Charles Naylor, the comedian. The latter, whose Com-, pany is at present touring the district, hearing of his old partner's sudden death and of his leaving a wife and four children in poor circumstances at once offered to give a benefit performance by his Company to swell a fund thab is being raised locally to assist them. Thursday night has been chosen for this performance. As Mr Naylor is to give this performance, the gros9 proceeds of which will be handed over to deceased's family, and has had to revoke other engagement?, the generosity of his offer is the more apparent.
