Germany claims that China shall execute tne murderers of missionaries And pay an indemnity of 600,000 taels (£100,000), besides the costs of the present occupation of Kaio Chau. The Chinese Government offers to make a reasonable reparation if Kaio Ohau is first evacuated. A deadlook over the negotiations exists at present. Japan has enquired of the Euro* pean Powers their intention with regard to the occupation of Eaio Chau by the Germans.
