The Dairy Industry.

A dairy factory was opened At Awahuri on Wednesday and Mr V. C. Ransome, Ohairnian of the Rongotea Dairy Company, speaking of the great benefit a dairy factory had proved to his district, mentioned that in 2f years settlers living within" a radius of 2| or 8 miles of Eongbtea had received no less a sum than £21,000 in cash. Some of the farmers were making m much as £1 per cow par month in the season, and a neighbour of bis had made £9 69 per cow per annum from a herd of 17 cows. As some encouragement to the shareholders of the Awahuri Company, Mr Bansome mentioned the difficulties that had been encountered in starting a factory in his diatrictj and he pointed opt that one of the greatest factors in" attaining success was for the Directors to be thoroughly in touch with all the business matters con* nected with the company, and to know how every shilling had been expended.

The directors of the Rongotea Factory find that it is absolutely necessary to erect another creamery owing to the large supply of milk that is received at the factory. At the present time 4000 gallons are being received daily and an additional supply of 1000 gallons is expected, so that it will be qnite impossible to put the whole of this milk through with the four separators in the present factory.
