London. The remains of Tasma (Madame Couvreur), the well known Australian novelist and writer, will be oremated. The Prince of Wales laid the foundation stone of the Bitiecuat Boy's School at Howsham. Mr Gladstone in a letter dealing with the Eastern Question, Bays the Concert of European Powers covered itself with indelible disgrace, especially an far as the Empire of Germany is concerned. Sir G. Tubman Goldie, Governor of the Royal Niger Company, West Africa, interviewed with regard to the despatch of two British gunboats to Boussa to support the British claims to both banks of the Niger and French newspaper comments thereupon, stated that the assumption of the British protectorate over i he Bousca district was intimated to Prance in January, 1895, and France then raised no protest against the British action. The will of the late Mr. J. P. Neale, one of Sydney's commercial magnates has been sworn at £803,000. The hulk of this goes to his wife and relations. He bequeathed £8500 to be distributed among the city hospitals and charitable institutions, and £3000 to the Wesleyan Church. Sir George Dibb3 is legatee to the extent of £5000. The probate duty amounts to over £40,000.
