Wednesday was taken up with the continuance on the debate on the Financial Statement. The Government refused to agree to an adjournment to Friday so that at midnight when one of the Opposition moved a motion to that effect the Government found themselves in a minority and had to put up Bom9 of their side to talk until the absent ones had been roused out of bed When the Go* vernment had all their men roundedup they went to a division which gave them a majority of eight.

Oa Thursday afternoon the House debated the motion for the &econd reading of Mr Tanner's Municipal Franchise Enlargement Bill, and in the evening the debate was adjourned for a fortnight, and th9 debate on the Budget resumed.

Friday was still taken up with the same debate.
