Mr Percy Smitb» SurveyorGfnpral, returned by the Upoln from a holiday trip to Tahiti and Barot* tonga. He stayed a month at each place.
As a result of bis visit and investigations, he considers it proved beyoad doubt that the Maoris of New Zealand originally came from the island* of Raiatea, Rayatua and Tuhau in the Society Group. His full report, which will appear in ihe Polynesia Journal, wijl contain much valuable information.— Press Association.
