A gathering of 6000 mambera of the Amalgamated Engineers' Association and allied trades in Hyde Park adopted resolutions heartily concurring in the movements in favour of eight bourg, and expressing strong sympathy with the provincial workprs. » On Saturday £30,000 was distributed in the shape of strike pay amongst 45,000 hands who struck, or have been locked out in connection with the trouble in the engineering trades. A ballot taken amongst the members of the British Boilermakers and Iron and Steel Shipbuilders' Union resulted in a largo majority favouring the eight-hour movement. The ballot taken by the Boilermakers' and Iron and Steel Ship builders' Association does not commit the society to support the engineers on strike unless the other unions affiliated with the federated trades agree to support them. The ballots on the question of supporting the engineers are pro** ceeding throughout the federated trades.
