A Prize Puzzle.
I — — A. young man applied to $lr. Boee at W. London for bis advice under the following circumstances. He stated that he saw an announcement in a journal offering a prize for the solution of a puzzle. He paid a fee of 2a. that was demanded of him, and having sent in the puzzle he received a reply that he had discovered the correct solution, and was- entitled to the prize, which was a penny. (Laughter.) Applicant wished to know if he had any redress, as it was disgraceful the public should be cheated in this way. — Mr Rose(looking at the puzzle) : If you are -such an ingenious young man as to discover the' solution of a puazle of this kind you should have been sharp enough to know that it was a fraud. (Laughter.)— Applicant then withdrew.
