Notice to Orchard ists.

A notice appears in' last week's Gazette requiring owners of fruit trees to dress them with a suitable dressing, for the purpose of checking the spread of disease. The winter wash strongly, recommended is as* follows :— Quick-lime, 401 b ; sulpha/, 201 b; salt, 151 b; water, 60 gallons. Firßt boil 201 bof lime and 201 bof sulphur in 20 gallons of water until both lime -and sulphur are dissolved. This will require about an hour's boiling. When sufficiently done the mixture will be of an amber colour. Be careful to use an iron boiler. The remainder of the lime shonld then be slacked in % barrel with hot water, add the salt, and stir up briskly. M\x the two lots together with enough' water to make up sixty gallons, and apply hot, if possible, using a good pump, taking special care to cover the young wood. It is aleo beneficial to dust sifted lime on the trees while the mixture is wet. .Apply daring winter, before the buds start.
